SPF GLOBAL IMPACT

Your Impact Matters

This project aims to enable children and young people, especially girls, young women, and unaccompanied refugee minors, to grow up in a safe, violence-free environment and exercise their right to education.

Together with Plan International, SPF improves access to safe education for children and young people affected by violence, natural disasters, poverty, displacement, or migration, while strengthening child protection systems to better protect particularly vulnerable groups and safeguard their rights.

WHY EL SALVADOR?

28% of children and adolescents in El Salvador are not enrolled in the education system. Limited access to quality education and vocational training, poverty, gang violence, and gender-based violence leave many young people with few prospects and contribute to migration.

Moreover, an increasing number of children and young people are returning to El Salvador, often after experiencing violence and exploitation during migration. Many face precarious living conditions and struggle to access education and employment, while weak institutional capacities make it difficult for communities to provide the protection and support they need.

THE PROJECT

Together with Plan International this project supports children and young people affected by displacement and migration, with a particular focus on protection from violence, access to education and vocational opportunities, and strengthening their resilience and social integration. Individual support, psychological counselling, and safe spaces help children and young people cope with experiences of displacement and violence and develop new perspectives for their future.

At the same time, the project works with families, host communities, schools, local authorities, and other stakeholders to strengthen child protection structures and social cohesion. Awareness-raising and community activities promote violence-free environments and improve understanding of child protection, while targeted educational and vocational support facilitates young people's integration into school and the labour market.
